On 29th April 2014, Shagun Gupta (student IGTC PGPBA 2013-15) added another feather to the crown of IGTC by bagging the third best paper award, in a two day seminar organised at Indian Academy on “Higher Education Transformation in India”. Shagun, under the guidance of Dr. Joy Mukhopadhay, elucidated “How to make traditional MBA in India more relevant”. Highlighting the dual system of education monitored successfully by the Indo-German Training Centre under IGCC, he emphasised on how the graduates today lack practical knowledge and consider MBA more as a continuation of their graduation. He also suggested how a dual system can be adopted by various B-schools to make management learning more relevant.
The programme was chaired by Dr. Ramakrishna (former director R&D Indian Academy) and Dr. G Venkatesh (former director Academics and development Indian Academy). The event saw eloquent speakers sharing their ideas on the current Indian education system and how it could be made more relevant. The panel members, Mr. Shiv Kumar (HR manager Accenture) and Dr. Shrikanta (principle Surana collage), in their addressing speech highlighted the loop holes in the current Indian education system and how a little monitoring can safeguard it from going into an entirely erroneous track.
“It was a matter of huge honour to bag the third best paper title among sixty three other papers, more so when I had to compete with much experienced people with profound knowledge. I certainly think it is the quality of education I received from IGTC that instils in me the clarity of thought. I express my thanks for my faculty Dr. Joy Mukhopadhay for his guidance” says Shagun.
