Convocation Ceremony, Batch 2012-2014, Indo-German Training Centre, Bangalore

The 5th annual convocation ceremony of IGTC Bangalore, Batch 2012-2014, took place on Thursday, 27th February, 2014 at Max Mueller Bhavan, Bangalore.

It was a warm and special gathering at Max Mueller Bhavan, Bangalore which marked the attendance of various dignitaries and Guests of Honour, parents, faculty members and friends of our graduating students to wish them on their journey ahead in life on this special occasion.

It was a great honour to welcome Mr. Jӧrn Rohde – Consul General, German Consulate General, Bangalore as our Chief Guest and Mr. Prasad Chandran – Former Chairman and Managing Director, BASF India Ltd., Mr. Tosher G Hormusjee – Managing Director, GW Precision Tools India Pvt. Ltd. and Mr. V K Viswanathan – Chairman, Bosch Ltd. as our Guests of Honour. Mr. Steinrücke – Director General, Indo-German Chamber of Commerce and Mr. Hubert Reilard – Chairman, South Western Region Council, Indo-German Chamber of Commerce also graced the ceremony.

All the 17 students of the batch held their heads high with pride as they were welcomed with a big round of applause by the distinguished guests, IGTC faculty, parents and friends. All the hard work and efforts during the course had culminated to this special event.

The gathering was welcomed by Mr. Bernhard Steinrücke – Director General, Indo-German Chamber of Commerce. He emphasised the importance of the Dual Education System in building the economy of India in the coming years and reminisced about the contribution of German Indologists in the field of education and culture.

Mr. Jӧrn Rohde and Mr. Prasad Chandran congratulated the graduating students and reiterated the thoughts of the Director General, IGCC. Mr. Prasad Chandran further advised the students to make the best use of resources available to them and contribute to the GDP growth of the country. His key advice to the students was to remain passionate, performing and professional about their work with highest levels of ethical values.

This was followed by an enthralling dance performance by Ms. Gayatri Tribhuvan of the EBMP Batch 2013-2014, IGTC Bangalore. The Bharathanatyam dance item was about Lord Shiva and was apt for the occasion as the day also marked the auspicious day of Mahashivarathri.

Our guests of honour Mr. V K Viswanathan and Mr. Tosher G Hormusjee guided the outgoing students by sharing their views about leadership and development of managerial skills. Mr. V K Viswanathan stressed on the importance of continuous learning and having a bigger purpose in life as success is very relative and personal. Also, he shared his motto of “Never give up” and “Be flexible, but never compromise”. Subsequently in his speech, Mr. Tosher G Hormusjee addressed the young graduate students to always be effective at the job, build strong character and be a team player with integrity.

The future managers in the making spoke fondly of the beloved faculty at IGTC and shared their experiences and learning during the 18 months course. The faculty members also acknowledged their efforts and wished them the best for their future.

The next few minutes were the most awaited moment of the evening – awarding of the certificates to the graduating students. Mr. Bernhard Steinrücke announced the winner of the Dr. Günter Krüger Award for Excellence as Mr. Gokul Kannan A. Ms. Gheerdhardhini M received a token of appreciation for her commitment as the editor of the batch. The Guests of Honour awarded the certificates to the students and also received a book on Business Ethics by Mr. Daniel Albuquerque as a symbol for lifelong learning. The gathering gave a thunderous applause to all the students.

The concluding speech was delivered by Mr. Hubert Reilard who shared his own experiences of the Dual Education System and its applications in various spheres of life. He summarised the previous speeches by emphasising on the significance of ethical principles and values and advised the students to think before acting. This has indeed inspired our students to be more responsible in their career.

The convocation ceremony concluded on a happy note with a sumptuous dinner and reliving of memories by graduating students during their time at IGTC. IGTC Bangalore would like to thank all its member companies and Max Mueller Bhavan for making the event a grand success and would like to wish the graduating students of batch 2012 – 2014 all the very best in all their future endeavours.
