It was one of those wonderful evenings, bringing immense joy and happiness on the faces of the graduating batch of 2013-2015 on successfully completing the Post Graduate Programme in Business Administration at the Indo-German Training Centre, Bengaluru. The convocation ceremony was organized on 19th March 2015 at Max Mueller Bhavan. The occasion was graced by some very noble dignitaries, renowned IGTC faculty members, alumni, parents and students.
On the occasion, Ms. Rosa Homburg, Academic Programme Manager, IGTC hosted the event with tremendous excitement to see yet another batch successfully graduating from IGTC. She started off by welcoming the prominent dignitaries present during the ceremony, the Chief Guest Mr. Uwe Hahn, Consul, German Consulate General, Bengaluru, Ms. Andrea Schäfer, Head of Language Department, Goethe Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan, Mr. Bernhard Steinrücke, Director General, Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Hubert Reilard, Vice President, Indo-German Chamber of Commerce and Ms. Audrey D’Souza, Regional Director, Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, Bengaluru.
The event began with opening remarks by Mr. Bernhard Steinrücke during which he emphasized on the best in business training imparted by the partner companies like BASF, Bosch, EFD Induction, Lufthansa Technik, Siemens and TÜV Rheinland. He further added that this year has been an Indo-German year just as it was in 2011-12, India being partner nation in the Hanover Fair 2015 (largest trade fair in the world). He concluded his remarks by making a point on strategic ties between Indo-German relations.
We then moved on to the welcome speech by Mr. Hubert Reilard. Enjoying the occasion he started by sharing his experience of preparing his welcome speech with the help of his son. It was a wonderful moment which brought a lot of smiles to the faces of the students and the audience. He further went on to quote an address given by Steve Jobs at Stanford University in 2005. Concluding his speech he explained the quote by saying that everyone has to do what he/she is supposed to do by taking responsibility of life in their own hands.
The evening continued with sharing of experiences at IGTC, starting with Mr. Srinath Krishnan, student of the graduating batch who shared his experience with a video of the graduating students. He expressed that they had tremendous knowledge outcomes not just through academics but also from the internships. He concluded by taking reference of Mr. Bernhard Steinrücke, that “We are the future and we are here to capture it”.
Then, from the faculty fraternity we had Mr. Rishiraj Dasgupta addressing the audience by sharing his experience and knowledge. He began with the memories that he had with the graduating batch. He also spoke about indebtedness by saying that he was grateful to IGTC for recognizing his knowledge and giving him an opportunity to be part of the faculty fraternity. He further went on taking reference from the Mahabharata, about the 5 most important points of indebtedness of human life.
Later in the evening, Mr. Markus Pfefferer shared his experience with the audience about the trainees he has had from IGTC. He added that IGTC trainees are considered as fixed assets to his company which showcases the quality of students. This wonderful experience showed the audience how important corporate training is at IGTC and that the companies are more than willing to actively participate in the course.
Then, we had the Dr. Günter Krüger Award winner from last year, alumni Mr. Gokul Kannan A, (Batch 2012-2014) sharing his experience one year after completing the course. He mentioned that he is grateful to be part of IGTC and how it has helped shape up his career at Bosch through cultural training, work ethics and subject modules like production and operations management. Learning at IGTC was the key to his success today.
Ms. Andrea Schäfer then came to the stage and emphasized on the importance of German language as part of the course. She mentioned that it plays an important part in exchange of culture between India and Germany referring to a quote by Goethe: “Language learning helps to understand the atmosphere of the country”. It is an important tool when it comes to building business relations. She wished the students “Alles Gute”.
The evening continued with the key note address by Mr. Uwe Hahn. He started by congratulating the PGPBA Batch 2013-2015. He said it was a proud moment to witness the progress of the institute and seeing the 6th batch of the prestigious PGPBA graduating successfully. He spoke on the importance of German Dual Education System followed in the course and mentioned about the salient advantages of pursuing the course. He highlighted the importance of training which is very essential to meet the companies’ specific requirements. He advised students to remain patient and passionate, perform in work with complete commitment and belief in values, which would come in handy during testing times.
The next few minutes were the most awaited moment of the evening – awarding of the certificates to the graduating students. Mr. Bernhard Steinrücke announced the winner of the Dr. Günter Krüger Award for Excellence as Ms. Shilpashree J. Ms. Nisha Alavandi received a token of appreciation for having achieved the second best overall results. Finally, the dignitaries awarded the certificates to the students. There was joy on every face and it was a moment of pride for the parents.
Finally, the concluding remarks were delivered by Ms. Audrey D’Souza. She congratulated the graduating batch, parents and friends present during the occasion. Appreciating the efforts of the students she said “as the fruitful journey comes to an end, another door of opportunity awaits. You are ready for the world to face any challenges”. In short 3 meaningful words she advised “Live your life”. Happy to see many alumni making it to the event, she said it was an ideal platform to reconnect with their mentors, friends, old memories by sharing their experience and expertise.
The convocation ceremony concluded on a happy note with a sumptuous dinner and reliving of memories by graduating students during their time at IGTC. IGTC would like to thank all its member companies and Max Mueller Bhavan for making the event a grand success and would like to wish the graduating students of Batch 2013-2015 all the very best in all their future endeavours. IGTC would also like to thank the junior Batch 2014-2016 for professionally coordinating the event.
