On the 12th February, students of IGTC Bangalore participated in the Football Tournament organized by the Indo German Chamber of Commerce, Bangalore.
The team, IGTC Vikings attended this gala event at the FSV arena competing against 24 other teams that included Consulate Generals, Bosch Ltd, SAP, Football Club, Puma, Siemens, Goethe Eagles, Mercedes-Benz Blitz, EFD, Robert Bosch, Lufthansa Technik FC, Decathlon, Birdy Exports, IGTC- Chennai, and an All-Star team, playing a total of 48 matches in 6 groups.
The IGTC Vikings kick-started their day by winning the first match against Freudenberg and continued to fight for the cup passionately. The team led by Capatain, Shreyas Nair included Jayanth Shetty, Venkataraman Mahalingam, Guruprasath, George Tharappel, Shaunak Dadhe, Hanzala Sheikh and Sooraj Nair at the goal.
The fellow IGTC mates spent the day at the arena cheering for their team and networking with counterparts from various companies. Bosch Ltd. came out as a winner after an exciting final match against Mercedes Benz.
Adding to this, there were various food-trucks serving delicacies from round the globe. The Consulate also organized a goal station for the children who were present at the venue. Apart from the adult teams, there were also 12 kids’ teams between the ages of 6 to 12 years.
The funds from this event, hosted by the IGCC go to Shanti Bhavan. a non-profit organization aiding economically and socially disadvantaged children. This year, IGCC also celebrates its 10th anniversary successfully hosting the football match.
