Four weeks in Germany, 2017 Dr. Krüger Award winner Maria Sebastian tells about her experiences

Every year, the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce awards the Dr. Günter Krüger Award for Excellence to the Best Performing Student of each Indo-German Training Centre. This award is given in collaboration with the company finally recruiting the student and the Goethe-Institut, Max Mueller Bhavan. It gives the student an opportunity to study a German language course with the Goethe-Institut in Germany and to understand best business practices in Germany through hands-on, practical training in his/her company.
Being this year’s award winner Maria Sebastian enjoyed a four-week German language course at the Goethe-Institut in Munich. Participating in group activities and going on trips within the Country, Maria Sebastian could directly apply her German language skills in interaction with the locals. Besides enhancing her German, getting a first-hand experience of the German culture and the way of living was an important effect of her stay in Germany.

This is her resume of her time in Germany

Der unvergesslichste Monat meines Lebens (The most unforgettable month of my life)

First and foremost, I would like to thank IGTC for giving me this wonderful opportunity to study Deutsch in Germany for a period of 1 month.
I was given a list of locations in Germany to choose from and I chose München, Bavarias capital which is home to centuries-old buildings and numerous museums. The city is known for its annual Oktoberfest celebration and its beer halls, including the famed Hofbräuhaus, founded in 1589. The name of the city is derived from the old term Munichen, meaning “by the monks”, which in turn is derived from Mönch.
The Goethe Institute, München is a very lively place with a lot of educational and cultural activities. The institute had organized a lot of visits to famous places in München by which I was able to travel as well as enjoy with an amazing group of students from the institute. The experience of studying with a group of students from different parts of the world was a wonderful one.
Every day I woke up with utmost enthusiasm, eager to know what is in store for me that day and for every other day I was in Germany. The learning (Deutsch) took place in the morning and in the evenings I went to explore different locations in Munich. My stay in Germany was with a lovely Couple who were very hospitable and friendly.

The Schloss Neuschwanstein Castle that we visited from our Institute was a structure that had the power to fire the imagination and this is undoubtedly a blueprint to the magical Disney Castle.
I also got the chance to visit the BMW museum and the factory .The tour of the BMW Group parent plant took us through all production areas from the press works to assembly. I was truly amazed to see the complete automated and robotic assembly and production line.
My complete month in Germany is definitely my most unforgettable month of my life and I have made some really amazing friends who I am still in touch with. I am happy and thankful to IGTC, for giving me this wonderful opportunity.
